“interns” Being an intern for MannaDR is a huge blessing. On August 8th of this year I returned to the United States after my third summer of being an intern. Being an intern is an awesome job and I would recommend it to anyone. This summer was awesome in its own way, and very different than the other two summers. One of the best parts of the job is getting to know and working with the other interns. This year’s interns were awesome. We had a terrific summer and learned so much together. They taught me a lot and I will never forget them. The interns were: Hunter Main Richard Parsons Haley Lehman Audrey Parker Lindsey Bynum and me Thank you so much to every single one of you. You all taught me so much. I have you all in my prayers and miss you so much. “God, the internships in the Dominican Republic have been a huge part of my life and been a part of a huge transformation in my life. I am so thankful to every person I have interned with and to all the Manna team that has helped us work together. I pray that all the interns from this summer learned as much as I did and that they grew deeper in their relationships with you. They are in my prayers and I pray that they continue to stay close to you. Keep them safe. I love you every day.”
Uds. me enseñyaron mucho.
“Cultural Safari” One of the responsibilities I had this summer was the creation and execution of the Cultural Safari. The Cultural Safari has been used with the groups for over a year now in Rio San Juan, but when I was there on Spring Break I was given the task of creating a new edition to the safari. I really enjoyed making a game. I had different ideas but the one that won the day and was used all summer was inspired by the reality show “The Amazing Race”. The idea was to mix in cultural questions with tasks to get the groups in the city and get to know the culture and people of Rio San Juan. There were 4 tasks and 5 questions. At the end of the race the group that won signed the safari banner and their time was recorded. These are the times of the winning groups: Park Plaza 47:03 Lake Cities 50:04 Southside 54:33 Northland Missions 47:33 Northside 49:05 Red Bank 48:10 Lake Jackson 44:47 Richfield 54:40 Congratulations to LAKE JACKSON for having the best time of the summer! Oh, and thank you so much to the interns for helping me every week. “God, Thank you for the opportunity to make a game like this cultural safari. I pray that it was a blessing to you, to the Dominican people and to all the groups that participated. God we never know what you do through simple things like a game but we trust that you can do something miraculous and change eternity through our feeble attempts to do something great. I love you everyday.”

"To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special." -Jimmy V
"For a Christian, one dislocating, self-impoverishing hour spent with a child living in a broken-down dump is worth more than all the burial mounds of rhetoric, all the feeble intentions, all the mumbling and fumbling and tardiness of those Christians who are so busy cultivating their own holiness that they can not hear the anguished cry of the child in the slum." -Brennan Manning

"Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:4-5
